JAC client is a foreign bank looking for a Head of Legal
Department: Legal Department
Report to: CEO
Summary:
In addition to managing the legal department and making sure that all relevant rules and regulations are followed, the Head of Legal is also in charge of giving strategic legal advice. In addition to advising on regulatory changes and supporting the bank's business goals while defending its interests, this function includes managing legal risks.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Principal Accountabilities

• Create and carry out a compliance and legal strategy.
• Work together with the legal team at head office and senior management to make sure that the legal strategy anticipates and anticipates important business demands.
• Anticipate potential legal risks and design mitigating solutions to preserve the bank’s interests in line with group-wide legal rules.

Risk Management & Regulatory Requirement

• Recognize, evaluate, and reduce any legal risks related to the bank's activities, goods, and services.
• Act as your main point of contact for regulatory bodies. Keep an eye on changes in regulations and advise the bank on any necessary modifications to its policies and procedures.
• Oversee the bank's regulatory compliance framework and manage connections with appropriate authorities.
• Ensure that staff members are informed about changing regulations by providing legal updates.

Advisory Role

• Provide legal assistance to top management and various business divisions on matters such as contract negotiations, mergers and acquisitions, lending practices, and employment law.
• Conduct legal research and offer guidance on intricate legal matters.
• Determine and evaluate possible legal risks in coordination with business units, compliance, and risk management.

Contract Management

• Supervise the creation, examination, and bargaining of numerous contracts while guaranteeing adherence to the law.
• Recognize possible legal issues in contracts and offer guidance on risk reduction

Manage Litigation and Dispute Resolution

• Oversee all court cases, arbitrations, and other legal actions that concern the bank.
• Hire and manage outside legal counsel for cases involving dispute resolution.
• Deliver required paperwork and monitor legal processes to guarantee successful results.

Legal Operations and Human Resources Issues

• Offer guidance on delicate HR and labor law matters.
• Take part in the internal investigations remediation team and, when necessary, offer legal and compliance viewpoints.
• Working together, giving guidance to outside counsel as necessary, and contributing to and supervising their work

Others

• Others duties per assigned by direct manager.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Qualification

• Education level: University graduate, certificate in legal practice, or comparable professional understanding of the banking and financial services sectors.
• Years of Experience: At least three years in a head legal position and a minimum of eight years in managing positions. internal legal and compliance background in the banking sector in Vietnam.
• Shown expertise in business law, commercial law, corporate law, and pertinent laws including data protection and financial services.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Enthusiastic, dynamic, possess presentation skills, analytical ability, team work, and working under pressure.
