JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for Director of Vietnamese Studies and Engagement to drive an industry
leading, engaging and educationally sound integrated Vietnamese program and to be the primary liaison with the School and MOET. The position will report to School Leadership, be an integral part of the School’s Senior Leadership Team, and work closely with many other department heads of the School.
Leadership and Vision
• Create an environment that facilitates an effective shared vision serving as a
thought leader and ambassador for the school in the field of Vietnamese studies
• Lead academic, research, and engagement activities in the context of a broad
vision of the discipline of Vietnamese studies on behalf of the School with multiple
stakeholders
• Advance the School’s academic excellence relative to peer institutions in the field
of integrated education in Vietnam
- Collaboration and Partnerships
• Build and maintain a strong relationship between the school and MOET to ensure
compliance, access to resources, and support for the School's educational goals.
• Foster a culture of high-impact interdisciplinary collaboration within the School;
building partnerships and alliances across the School community including with
parents
• Liaise with external groups and organizations regarding programs and
opportunities related to Vietnamese courses and integration
- Program Development and Management
• Devise new and developmentally appropriate approaches to integrating
Vietnamese studies and language into the IB curriculum for all age groups
• Maintain Vietnamese studies and language departmental budget
• Provide all faculty with clear and specific instructional strategies that will help
them support the learning of Vietnamese studies and language and in the execution
of implementation
Teaching and Learning Support
• Provide department faculty with instructional, pedagogical, and curricular
mentorship and supervision in Vietnamese language and integration
Lead whole school efforts to utilize data (internal and external) to drive curricular
and pedagogical improvements in the teaching of Vietnamese studies and
language
• Regularly observe faculty members and provide clear feedback on pedagogy for
oversight of successful curricular integration
• Support the design and execution of internal assessments that can be used to
improve student learning to meet Vietnamese curriculum integrated standards
- Parent and Community Engagement
• Drive proactive communications regarding the integrated academic program and
School mission and vision with parents and/or guardians of students of Vietnamese
language, ensuring holistic support for all students
• Support the school’s administrative teams as needed to ensure that information is
being delivered to parents in Vietnamese where feasible
and pedagogical improvements in the teaching of Vietnamese studies and
language
• Regularly observe faculty members and provide clear feedback on pedagogy for

care, and discipline, particularly when these issues impact the teaching and
learning of the integrated program
• Provide support to admissions in reviewing the Vietnamese language capabilities
of potential students
• Liaise with faculty, school counselors, and administration regarding student health,

Human Resources and Staffing
• Interview and recommend teachers and assistants as possible candidates for
employment based on their Vietnamese language and pedagogical abilities

• Help define the purchase of needed supplies, library books textbooks, and
materials to support integration and the Vietnamese studies and language
department

JOB REQUIREMENT
- Master’s degree or above in a related Vietnamese Studies field
- Familiarity with the IB and international curriculum
- 10+years of academic experience leading departments in the field of research or
Vietnamese teaching
- Peer-respected in the field of Vietnamese studies
- Strong verbal skills and high comfort levels with making presentations before large groups
of people
- Ability to build, manage and motivate cross-functional, high-performing teams
- Future and result-oriented mindset
- Flexible and agile working style suitable for a greenfield school operations
- Strong drive for organizational improvements
- Team oriented and spirited
- Familiarity with international academia is an advantage
- Fluent in written and spoken Vietnamese and English (1st language Vietnamese)
